Djawad Mowafaghian
Research Center for Intelligent Neuro-Rehabilitation Technologies

Recently, due to aging population, increase in car accidents and number of children born with abnormalities, and problems caused by modern life style, the demand for various rehabilitation services has increased significantly worldwide. Moreover, traditional approaches of rehabilitation involve intensive labor, local access to hospital facilities, and long period of treatment making them exhausting, insufficient and expensive for the patients, their families and societies. Hence, recently employing new technologies to develop effective instruments and techniques has been of interest to reduce the need for one-on-one therapy and related costs.
Djavad Mowafaghian Research Center was established in 2014 by Sharif University of Technology in the name of its major contributor, Dr. Djavad Mowafaghian. The main motivation of this research center is to develop intelligent systems to treat and help patients suffering from neurologic disorders based on the achievements and experiences of rehabilitation research group of Sharif University of Technology.

Gait Analysis Lab

The Motion Analysis Laboratory at Djavad Mowafaghian Research Center for Neuro-rehabilitation brings state-of the art technology to the investigation and novel treatment of motor impairments in individuals with neurological disorders including stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s Disease, cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis.

3D Printing Lab

Dmrcint Additive Manufacturing Laboratory was established in 2018. This lab is equipped with a wide variety of 3Dprinting technologies such as SLS & FDM for polymeric materials and SLM for metallic materials (Titanium &Stainless Steel). The lab is intended to develop new methods for patient specific design and manufacturing of medical grade implants, surgical guides, orthoses and prosthesis.
